There’s a new AI superhero in town, its name is GPT-4 🦸🏽

So OpenAI just released GPT-4 and there are already a bunch of companies using it, you will find some examples below. According to OpenAI, their GPT-4 is the most advanced system till date that they have released. Let’s quickly get our hands dirty and see what sets it apart:

• It is a multimodal model (can understand more than one modality of information) that accepts image and texts as input and emit text output

• In a simulated bar exam, it came in the range of 90 percentile whereas its predecessor GPT-3.5 scored in the 10 percentile range

• GPT-4 outperformed all existing state-of-the-art large language models on traditional machine learning benchmarks

• It can remember things for longer duration. Put simply, the old version of ChatGPT can hold 8000 words or 5 pages of a book whereas GPT-4 can hold 64000 words or 50 pages of a book

• GPT-4 is much better at Steerability (ability to alter behavior on demand) which means users can now alter the classic ChatGPT personality to something more suited to them

Step up your language game with Duolingo Max 💪🏽

Duolingo has come out with a massive GPT-4 upgrade and they are calling it Duolingo Max. It’s a new subscription tier placed above the Super Duolingo package. This new upgrade includes all the benefits of Super plus two new AI-powered features - “Roleplay” and “Explain My Answer”.

Roleplay:

• This feature allows users to practice real world conversation skills through different scenarios and with different characters in the app. For example ordering coffee at a café in Paris or asking a friend to go for a hike

• Users in these scenarios will be talking to an AI bot which is responsive and interactive, hence no two conversations will be exactly alike

• It also generates an AI-powered report on complexity and accuracy of the conversation

Explain My Answer:

• This feature will help users when they make a mistake and are unsure regarding the right answer; and might end up making the same mistake again

• After certain in-app exercises, users can tap on this link to know more about their mistakes and ask Duo to further clarify on them using examples

These two new features are currently only available for Spanish and French courses for English speakers on iOS devices.
