Earlier this week, Sam Altman, the global face of AI, appeared in front of US Congress. Following were the key takeaways from the meeting:

  • He started with announcing about the immense potential of AI to transform lives, even tackling challenges like climate change and cancer.

  • Altman emphasized the need for regulatory intervention to mitigate risks associated with increasingly powerful AI models.

  • Altman proposed granting licenses for development of AI models, monitoring and permit revocation in case of rule violations.

  • He also recommended the creation of a dedicated AI agency to handle independent audits.

AI Case in point 💼

Introducing Google’s Project Gameface 🎮

Project Gameface is an open-source hands-free gaming mouse that breaks down barriers by allowing people with physical limitations to experience the joy of gaming.

Project Gameface enables people to control a computer's cursor using their head movement and facial gestures. People can raise their eyebrows to click and drag, or open their mouth to move the cursor.

This remarkable project was inspired by the extraordinary journey of Lance Carr, who is a quadriplegic video game streamer living with muscular dystrophy, a progressive disease that weakens muscles.

To continue his love for gaming, he came up with the idea of a head-tracking mouse to control his cursor. But fate tested Lance's spirit when a devastating fire engulfed his home during one fateful gaming session. The fire claimed his online gaming equipment, including his cherished head-tracking mouse.

When Google heard Lance's story, they decided to work with him and co-designed Project Gameface.

The hands-free mouse captures head movements and facial gestures with a simple webcam by leveraging the Google MediaPipe open-source solutions.

Project Gameface doesn't just bring back what was lost; it opens a new chapter of possibilities. It reaffirms that gaming is for everyone, regardless of physical limitations.
