Introducing BloombergGPT: A Finance-focesed AI model 🪙

Bloomberg, the financial data and media company, has recently unveiled a large scale generative artificial intelligence model called BloombergGPT. This large language model is specifically trained on a wide range of financial data and is designed to support a diverse set of natural language processing (NLP) tasks within the financial industry. The finance-chatbot will help with the following tasks:

• Analyze financial data to assess risk

• Improved sentiment analysis and question answering

• Optimized entity recognition and news classification

This model was constructed using one of the largest domain-specific datasets yet, consisting of 363 billion token dataset of English financial documents augmented with a 345 billion token public dataset. The model was able to surpass existing open models by a large margin.

In conclusion, with the ability to improve existing NLP workflows, BloombergGPT does sound like a game-changer for the finance industry.

Italy bans ChatGPT over privacy issues 🚫

On March 30th 2023, the Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali (GPDP), also known as the Italian Data Protection Authority has issued a temporary ban on ChatGPT, effective immediately. The ban will remain in place until ChatGPT is compliant with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). GPDP has following concerns with ChatGPT:

• Breach of Privacy Laws: GPDP has banned ChatGPT for processing personal data in breach of its privacy laws

• Unjustified collection of Personal Data: OpenAI is accused of unjustified collection of personal data to train ChatGPT’s algorithm

• Lack of Age verification: ChatGPT lacks approporate age detection mechanisms which can expose inappropriate information to users under 13 years of age

• Data Breach risks: A data breach was reported on March 20th that has further fueled cocerns about the potenital os criminals using ChatGPT to commit fraud and cybercrime
