AI Chronicles 📰

Is Google going to win the AI race? 🚀

This week we had Google I/O 2023, in which the tech giant made a number of major AI related announcements from launching the new Pixel Fold to Generative AI powered search. Here’s a brief on all of them:

  1. Google introduced Pixel Fold, its first foldable phone in the Pixel portfolio. The company also unveiled Pixel 7A and an 11-inch sized Pixel Tablet

  2. Google has finally announced the much-awaited Generative AI experience in Search which can be tried by signing up for Search Labs (currently US only). The experience will give AI-powered snapshots of key information with links to explore deeper

  3. The tech giant has upgraded its Workspace massively by embedding the power of Generative AI. The AI makeover will be done in Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Meet, Docs, in short every Google workspace product will be enhanced by AI

  4. Google has also dropped the waitlist for Bard AI and the chatbot is now available in 180 countries. Some of the key enhancements that will be done in Bard are support for new languages (Japanese and Korean), text export to Gmail and docs and visual prompting

  5. It has also finally released its highly anticipated text-to-music model MusicLM for web, android and iOS platforms

  6. Google has opened sign-ups to its experimental AI-first notebook called Project Tailwind

  7. It will soon be releasing an AI-powered photo editor called Magic Editor which will help reimagine different aspects of your photo, for example reposition an object in the picture or even change an overcast sky to a blue sunny one

  8. Google Maps is getting reinvented by the addition of Immersive view for routes 👇🏽

This is not the complete list, there were around 100 announcements that Google did at the event and it won’t be possible for us to write about all of them. But if you have time, you can read about them here.
